“Are wa ii mono da”—roughly, “That is a fine piece”—is M’Quve’s remark about his treasured vase in Mobile Suit Gundam television episode 37, “The Duel in Texas.” At the end of his fight against Amuro in the Gyan, he asks Uragan to deliver the vase to Kycilia. The object is the vase, not the mobile suit or Zeon’s mineral reserves.
- Series and speaker
- The original Mobile Suit Gundam television series; M’Quve.
- Episode and scene
- Episode 37, at the end of the Gyan battle, entrusting his treasured vase to be delivered to Kycilia.
- Version
- The 1979 television story. Do not substitute the film trilogy or The Origin’s different account.
Why does he speak about a vase at the end?
M’Quve is a military commander with a cultivated attachment to antiques. His final concern joins that private taste to his loyalty towards Kycilia. Reading pride, attachment or pathos into the scene is interpretation; it does not establish a romantic relationship or a real-world appraisal value.
The war determines the outcome of the battle, yet the last words turn towards something personal. That collision helps make the line both memorable and strangely poignant. Its casual use by fans usually borrows the antique collector’s approving tone.

The shape, the Northern Song connection and modern reproductions
The rounded body, removable lid and dragon-shaped spout are central to the licensed object. Bandai’s Noritake announcement describes the fictional vase as white porcelain thought to date from the Northern Song period. That is information about a prop in the story, not authentication of a modern retail object as an ancient antique.
The 2014 Noritake collaboration and the 2025 FRGMT project are separate modern products. They should not share a single listing description, dimensions or implied collector value simply because both use M’Quve’s vase.

| Project | What distinguishes it | Status of this guide |
|---|---|---|
| Noritake M’Quve’s Vase | Announced in 2014; approximately 300 mm tall, bone china, dragon spout and removable lid. | Historical licensed release; current order acceptance is not verified. |
| FRGMT M’Quve’s Vase White / Black | A separate Gundam 45th-anniversary collaboration with fragment; two colours. | The official page records a February 2025 lottery period, not a current reservation. |
| Zabi family tea cups | Gihren and Garma colour schemes; cup-and-saucer sets rather than the vase. | Officially imagined Zabi household tableware, not exact on-screen props. |

The Bandai apparel project: two shirts, a tote and a pouch
Bandai’s 2021 vase project included a full-colour scene T-shirt, a second T-shirt design, a tote bag and a vase-shaped mascot pouch. The published Bandai announcement records that four-item range. Its old ordering period should not be presented as a live preorder, and these items are distinct from COSPA’s printed shirt and boxers above.
A ceramic replica, miniature container and fabric pouch can resemble one another in a small search thumbnail. Add the material or product type to the search and inspect the actual listing before comparing prices.
Keep the Gyan and Odessa quotations separate
The Gyan is related merchandise because M’Quve pilots it. It is not a product printed with the vase quotation. His statement about Zeon fighting for ten more years concerns Odessa’s resources in television episode 25; it is not part of the final episode 37 vase scene.
For another perspective on the One Year War, continue with Gaia’s stepping-stone complaint or Gihren’s speech.
