“You are kind because you are you, aren’t you?” is Lacus Clyne’s response to Kira Yamato in Gundam SEED episode 8, “The Songstress of the Enemy Forces.” Kira brings her food while she is staying aboard the Archangel after being rescued.

- Situation
- Kira explains that he is a Coordinator too; Lacus brings the explanation back to Kira as an individual.
This is an early encounter, not the later Freedom handover or the love-versus-need exchange in SEED FREEDOM. The English quote here explains the Japanese wording rather than claiming to reproduce a specific release’s subtitle.

Why the episode matters
Lacus is both a PLANT singer and the daughter of Siegel Clyne. To the Archangel’s crew she is also connected with the side they are fighting. Her presence aboard the ship therefore creates a political and emotional problem, not an uncomplicated visit.
The official synopsis describes her rescue with Haro, tension aboard the ship and disagreement over how to treat her. Kira’s small act of bringing food happens within that atmosphere of suspicion.
Why is “because I am a Coordinator too” not the whole answer?
Kira describes a shared category as a reason for his kindness. That response also fits a young man who is conscious of his own position among people who do not all share his background.
Lacus does not tell him that being a Coordinator is meaningless. She simply refuses to make it the complete explanation for the person in front of her. His action can reveal something about Kira, not merely about the group to which he belongs. The warmth of the line comes from seeing an individual rather than stopping at a label.
A human observation before it is a romantic slogan
Knowing their later relationship can make the conversation sound like a declaration of love. In its immediate context, however, it answers a question about kindness. Reading the early exchange on its own terms preserves what is moving about it.
Later Lacus lines address power and intention, and eventually love and need. They are related through her way of seeing people, but they occur in different situations and should not be collapsed into one speech.

| Kind because you are you | SEED episode 8: personal kindness |
| Feelings and power | Later SEED: acting on an intention |
| Needed because I love you | SEED FREEDOM: love and necessity |

Check the series and costume before choosing. Figure-rise Standard is an assembly model of a character; Look Up is a finished seated figure. Plush mascots and acrylic accessories offer smaller, different ways to collect her.
Products labelled SEED FREEDOM below are later related merchandise, not recreations of episode 8 or its costume. A pink SEED Haro also connects with her world. None is presented as a product verified to print this exact line.
