“Yacchaina yo, sonna nisemono nanka!” is Gigi Andalucia’s line to Hathaway in the first Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway film, released in 2021. It belongs to the Haunzen shuttle hijacking. The “fake” is a hijacker claiming the Mafty name, not Gigi herself.
“Go on, take down that fake” is our explanatory translation, not a verified quotation from an official English subtitle or dub. This guide separates the original scene, its unusual voice production, and later internet edits. It includes early-film context and a reference to Quess from Char’s Counterattack.
Who says “Yacchaina yo,” and where does it come from?
Gigi is the woman Hathaway and Kenneth encounter aboard the Haunzen. Her remark urges Hathaway to act during the hijacking. Its casual delivery contrasts with a dangerous situation: this is not an ordinary suggestion to try a harmless activity.
The distinction between the first film and later installments matters. A newly released outfit, illustration or sequel scene should not be used as evidence for what she wears or does at this specific moment in the 2021 film.
Who is the “fake Mafty”?
The hijackers claim to be Mafty. Claiming that identity and actually representing the organization are different things, and “fake” cuts into that difference. The famous pumpkin mask belongs to the hijacker imagery; it does not make Gigi the masked attacker.
Later fan edits helped circulate the line and the mask. Those edits may combine music, dancing and dialogue in ways the original movie does not. Recognizing a meme is therefore a starting point for finding the film, rather than evidence that every element of the meme appears together in it.
Why do Gigi and Quess seem to share the voice?
A primary production source gives a useful answer. Sunrise’s report on the film’s thank-you stage event records director Shukou Murase discussing the combination of Gigi actor Reina Ueda’s voice with Quess actor Maria Kawamura’s. The effect should not be described simply as a recasting of Gigi.
Quess connects to Hathaway’s past in Char’s Counterattack. Hearing an echo of her within Gigi’s present-tense encouragement can make the line feel like memory intruding into the immediate crisis. That is an interpretation of the effect; the reported use of the two performers’ voices is the production fact.
It does not follow that Quess is physically present aboard the shuttle. Keeping the sound design separate from a literal account of who occupies the scene avoids turning an expressive choice into an unsupported plot claim.
Do not confuse Gigi’s line with Gauman’s challenge
“Yatte misero yo, Mafty!” is a different line associated with Gauman. Both phrases urge someone to act, but their speakers and contexts are not interchangeable. Remembering Gigi for yacchaina yo and Gauman for yatte misero yo is a practical way to keep them apart.
Gigi’s wording has an informal closeness that can also sound unsettlingly perceptive. The contrast between that light tone and the stakes of the hijacking helps explain its appeal without requiring an invented power or a definitive psychological diagnosis of the character.

Is Quess the speaker?
Gigi speaks to Hathaway in the scene. The reported blending of voices is a separate production detail, which explains why a simple speaker label does not tell the whole story of the sound.
Is this from the sequel?
The source discussed here is the first 2021 film. Do not substitute a sequel’s costume or setting when identifying this moment.
