For a first Gunpla build, choose tools to match the kit and the finish you want. A basic plastic-model nipper may be enough to start; a small set becomes useful when you also need help with stickers and separating a mistaken assembly. These are alternatives, not a shopping list that requires buying everything.
Check whether your kit needs cutting tools
Some ENTRY GRADE kits use touch gates designed for separation by hand. That does not mean every Gundam kit is tool-free. Read the exact product instructions before ordering tools; also check the manufacturer’s age guidance and use precautions.
Option 1: the Entry Tool Set
The BANDAI SPIRITS set contains one blue Entry Nipper, plastic tweezers and a parts separator. It is a convenient starting point if you own none of these. Tweezers can help place small stickers, while the separator offers an aid when reopening compatible parts. Neither removes the need to work carefully or guarantees that a tight assembly will separate without damage.
Option 2: a nipper on its own
A standalone blue Entry Nipper is the simpler choice when cutting is the immediate need or you already own the other tools. It is intended for plastic-model work; it should not be treated as a general-purpose metal or wire cutter. Follow its instructions for permitted materials and cutting technique.
Avoid paying twice for the same tool
The set already includes the blue Entry Nipper. Buying the linked standalone nipper as well duplicates that role. If you later want a different finishing process, identify the problem first—visible gate marks, sanding, or panel lining—before adding a new tool. More equipment alone does not make the first build easier.
