The Turn A Gundam TV series has two opening songs, two regular ending songs and a separate finale ending, “Kagirinaki Tabiji.” The singers are Hideki Saijo, RAY-GUNS, Shinji Tanimura and Aki Okui. This guide separates the five TV themes from insert music and the films.
The embedded players below are officially distributed audio, rather than fan edits of the anime’s opening and ending sequences. Links to Aki Okui’s own live performances are marked separately. If you remember the melody but not the title, start with the table.
Turn A Gundam opening and ending songs: the complete TV list
| Use | Song | Singer |
|---|---|---|
| Opening 1 | Turn A Turn | Hideki Saijo |
| Opening 2 | CENTURY COLOR | RAY-GUNS |
| Ending 1 | AURA | Shinji Tanimura |
| Ending 2 | Tsuki no Mayu | Aki Okui |
| Finale ending | Kagirinaki Tabiji | Aki Okui |
The categories identify the earlier opening and ending, their later replacements and the finale. They should not be read as saying that the OP and ED changed at the same point. Film themes are outside this TV list.
Opening 1: “Turn A Turn” — Hideki Saijo
Saijo’s commanding voice gives the first opening an unmistakable identity. Its broad, confident energy is an interesting entrance to a series that also spends so much time with landscapes and daily life. Search for the song title, “Turn A Turn,” rather than only the series title if you want the original recording.

Opening 2: “CENTURY COLOR” — RAY-GUNS
RAY-GUNS takes the later opening in a lighter, more forward-moving direction. Hearing it immediately after the first OP makes the change in atmosphere especially clear. The contrast is part of the pleasure of revisiting both openings rather than treating the first as the whole musical identity of the show.

Ending 1: “AURA” — Shinji Tanimura
Tanimura’s “AURA” gives the earlier episodes a quieter exit. After a story filled with movement, conflict and political maneuvering, the measured vocal leaves space for the people living through those events. Its singer is Shinji Tanimura, not Hideki Saijo, who performs the first opening.

Ending 2: “Tsuki no Mayu” — Aki Okui
The Japanese title is 月の繭, often rendered in English as “Moon’s Cocoon.” Okui’s voice and Yoko Kanno’s music give the later ending an expansive, reflective quality. It is a song whose atmosphere can change for the listener after reaching the conclusion of the series.

For a performance on camera, Okui’s own channel also offers a live version of “Tsuki no Mayu” from her 2016 concert. It is a separate performance, not the TV recording.
Finale ending: “Kagirinaki Tabiji” — Aki Okui
The last episode closes with 限りなき旅路, “Kagirinaki Tabiji,” rather than simply reusing “Tsuki no Mayu.” The title suggests an unending journey. Its placement leaves a feeling that the characters’ lives continue beyond the point where the audience leaves them.

There is also an official live performance from Okui’s 2018 concert on her own channel. Keep the distinction between that performance and the studio recording above when comparing arrangements.
“Moon” and the film theme “AFTER ALL” are different entries
“Moon” is a separate piece used within the series. It should not be substituted as the English title of “Tsuki no Mayu,” even when their atmosphere makes them easy to associate. In the TV theme list, the later ending is Aki Okui’s “Tsuki no Mayu.”
Donna Burke’s “AFTER ALL” belongs to the Turn A films, Earth Light and Moonlight Butterfly, rather than this five-song TV list. The Gundam song listing on Yoko Kanno’s official site helps distinguish the film and TV entries.
A CD for the later endings: Original Soundtrack III — COCOA
Turn A Gundam Original Soundtrack III: COCOA — KICA-508
A physical CD with “Kagirinaki Tabiji” as track 1 and “Tsuki no Mayu” as track 20, verified against King Records’ official listing. This is a soundtrack with background music, not a collection containing all five TV opening and ending songs.
Match the catalogue number KICA-508 and the track list before choosing a listing. For used CDs, examine the stated condition of the disc and booklet. A physical CD, a purchased download and a streaming subscription are different products, even if a retailer groups them under similar artwork.
Frequently asked questions
Is “Tsuki no Mayu” the final episode’s ending?
The finale uses “Kagirinaki Tabiji.” Both songs are performed by Aki Okui, which makes them easy to confuse.
Are these the animated opening and ending videos?
No: the embedded selections are official audio players. The additional links to the singer’s performances are explicitly identified as live videos.
