Cima’s “Don’t Use the Guide Beacon” Quote: Gundam 0083 Scene Explained

Cima Garahau with dark green-black hair and gold-trimmed command uniform — revised original cover

Cima Garahau’s warning about the guide beacon belongs to OVA episode 13 of Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, “A Storm Raging Through.” She is addressing her mothership, Lili Marleen, during the final space battle. A signal intended to guide a friendly machine back can also make the ship’s position conspicuous.

What does the guide beacon mean here?

In this scene it functions as a signal that helps a mobile suit locate its ship. That is useful for returning safely, but transmitting during battle can create another risk by advertising the ship’s position. Cima’s order prioritises the immediate danger over the convenience of guidance.

The fictional scene does not supply a real-world engineering specification. There is no reason to invent a frequency, transmission protocol or detection range. Understanding the competing purposes—guidance and concealment—is enough to follow the warning.

Cima is not standing on the ship’s bridge

She is piloting Gerbera Tetra and communicating with Lili Marleen. Describing the moment simply as a captain scolding staff on her own bridge gets the physical relationship wrong. Her machine and her mothership are distinct places in the battle.

The sequence combines recognition of danger, an urgent attempt to stop a transmission and the attack on the ship. The force of the quotation comes partly from the inability to avert what follows. Kou’s Gundam GP03 is the machine attacking the mothership; it should not be confused with GP01 or GP02.

A harsh command and a warning about danger

Cima’s delivery can sound intimidating when isolated. In context, she is trying to stop something she regards as dangerous to her ship. That does not require declaring her either an ideal commander or a character with no concern for her people. A short line cannot settle her whole character.

It is more useful to ask what she has noticed, whom she is addressing and what action she wants stopped. Keeping the practical warning beside the loss that follows restores the scene’s urgency without turning it into a simple workplace slogan.

Find the OVA, not an unrelated game delivery

The episode answer refers to the original OVA’s thirteenth instalment. The compilation film The Afterglow of Zeon is another release, and games may reuse Cima’s voice in different battles. A game clip is not evidence for the OVA’s original sequence of events.

When locating the scene on a streaming service, compare the full Stardust Memory title, episode number and episode title. This is more reliable than searching only for “0083” or the character’s name.

Quick answers

Who says it?

Cima Garahau, warning her mothership about its transmission.

Does the line prove a precise technical cause of the hit?

It establishes her concern within the story. It is not a real-world test of targeting technology, so the article does not add an unsupported engineering explanation.

Is it episode 10?

The mothership warning discussed here is in episode 13 of the OVA.
